The Doctor Coach School™ Podcast
Dr. Kimmy is a double Board Certified Pediatric Hospitalist, CEO of The Doctor Coach School™️, and host of The Doctor Coach School™ Podcast. This podcast was created in order to help doctors, particularly women doctors of color, create, market, and confidently sell transformational coaching programs. Dr. Kimmy first built her business as a Procrastination Coach in 2019, helping professional women break the cycle of self-sabotage so that they could level up their lives, after she was able to push through procrastination and develop systems and processes to overcome her own overwhelm. She built a multi 6-figure coaching business from scratch and while working full time. Dr. Kimmy then began helping women doctors master their messaging and learn how to sell. She was able to help several of her clients develop thriving coaching businesses and sell high-ticket, high-impact coaching. This led to the creation of The Doctor Coach School™️. In DCS, Dr. Kimmy recognizes that the very tools that she developed to coach herself and her clients are also effective to market and sell. DCS is the only coaching school created specifically for physicians and dentists: in it, she helps doctors utilize their unique training of diagnosis and treatment in order to help them achieve results for their clients, market their coaching business, and sell their coaching with confidence. On the DCS podcast, you will learn how to pivot your story into your intellectual property, master your messaging through StorySelling, and sell with confidence. You will learn how to overcome your own mental and emotional blocks, and to teach those very skills to your clients.

Let's Connect:
Hi everyone. I am Dr. Kimmy. I'm the CEO and founder of the Doctor Coach School. And I want to talk about failing your way to demand. So here's what I mean by that. A lot of y'all, us doctors. I think that what it takes in order to be successful in your coaching business is like perfection, right? Like I remember when I thought that you gotta be perfect. You gotta look perfect, your website has to be perfect, everything has to be perfect. And inside of my programs, the reason my clients get insane results is that we fail our way to success. And so what I wanna talk about is a real time example. Of that, a real life example of that at my level. So I am scaling to a million dollars this year. Okay? I have made over seven figures in my business in the past two years, and we're doing our first seven figures this year. I'm gonna walk you through the past week of my business, which has been nothing but failure. Are y'all ready? Let's go up. Nothing but failure and. And I'm still signing clients. That's really the point. That's really what I want to talk about. Okay. So again, a lot of times, like we are underearning as doctors in our business, so we're either underearning because our business is stuck in our head or because we are stuck in the busy work of just. Growing spaghetti at the wall and doing things that are like aesthetically pleasing, but aren't actually moving our business forward. And so that is where I was in 2020 and I've talked about how I, I was reducing my prices. I was hiring the branders, my website, I was doing my website, like I was doing all of the things and I was underearning. And what I hate to see is I hate to see doctors Underearning because we don't have to, because we don't have to. The reason we are likely underearning is because we don't want to fail. That's really it. We don't wanna fail. We don't wanna fall on our face. We don't wanna, we don't want people to see us trying, we don't want people to see us trying we wanna pop out a perfect. Like version of ourselves as a coach. And in order to actually sell coaching, there has to be some micro failures along the way. Now again, I didn't, I'm not saying you are actually gonna fall on your face, but you do. You are going to get some things wrong. You are going to put something out there, and initially someone doesn't respond or people think you're crazy or your cousin or your auntie don't get it. We often stop when those things happen. Instead of using it to propel us forward. And something I said last week during the challenge was if you could just keep going when the perceived failures happen, everything, absolutely everything will change in your life and in your business. I wanna use my business as an example. Okay. As an example. Not so that you guys can compare yourself to me just so you guys can see what's possible and so that you know that at every single level, this is the work at every single level. This is the work. So I did a three day challenge last week. It was incredible. If you want the replay, DM me the word replay, we will get it to you. It was absolutely incredible. It was phenomenal. The engagement was high. I taught the best that I ever have ever. Like I, it's my best work. And then we sent out the emails and we did the whole launch plan with the goal of closing the doors this Tuesday. Over the course of the past week, it has been, we have noticed so many tech failures and tech glitches along the journey of doing this launch. The biggest ones have been my email service provider stopped sending our emails and didn't notify us, so we thought our emails were going out and they weren't. They were not going anywhere. That's, that was the first thing that happened. The second thing that happened was our links were going nowhere. So you click a link, it doesn't go anywhere. That was the second thing that happened. Now, for me, what was available to me, right? And what I did for a little bit, if we're be. If we're being honest. Okay. I did spin out a little bit, but what was available to me was to completely spin out, like completely spin out. Oh my gosh, there's so many tech failures, tech issues. This is embarrassing, right? Like I could have said this is embarrassing. This is not a good look for the business. Oh my gosh. And my brain, to be fair, my brain did that and I allowed it. I allowed myself to feel the feelings. But what my cave woman brain wanted to do was just shut down, right? Like completely shut down. This is an embarrassment. You shouldn't even be in business, just like exit stage left. That's what my brain wanted to do. And instead. And instead, I decided, I'm gonna walk you through what I did, and then I'm also gonna talk about some of the changes we're making as a result of what happened. But number one, what I did was I prayed. First and foremost, if you know me, I'm a woman of faith, I gotta pray, right? So I prayed and I was like, God, I don't know. Now this was, I will say this was like before we knew something was wrong, but I, we didn't know what was going on, right? Like we, we couldn't like place what exactly was happening. It just, to me, it just felt like things were off. Like it felt like the launch was off, but I really couldn't like, figure out what it was. So number one, I prayed, I. Vulnerably speaking, I did. I had to just pray and just ask God to help because I was like, I don't know what's happening. And then the second thing is I allowed myself to feel bad. I think that a lot of times we are running from our emotions, we're running from our feelings. We don't wanna feel right, like we don't wanna feel negative, we wanna only feel positive in our business all the time. And that is a recipe for. Not growing right? Because if you are going to grow you're necessarily going to stretch yourself and it's going to be uncomfortable. So the discomfort, I allowed myself to feel that I allowed myself to cry. If you're selling coaching and you're not crying, I know one of two things, either. Number one, you're not actually doing the hard work, you're doing the pretty stuff. You are doing the pretty stuff. If you're not crying in your business, I'm not saying that you just wake up every day and you're just on your face in a puddle of tears. That's not what I'm saying. But if you don't have any negative emotions in your business, you're likely either not doing the hard work, like you're doing the pretty stuff like the website.'cause the website's not gonna make you cry, right? Putting your offer in front of people and them ignoring you is gonna make you cry. Like sending a DM to someone. And they don't respond. The first time it happens is gonna make you cry, right? If you're not crying, you're probably like avoiding the work that you actually need to do, right? So you're either doing the pretty stuff or your business is stuck in your head. And so if you're not feeling any emotions around your business, I really wanna question what you're doing. You're probably hiding the hard work from yourself. And if you do that, you're not gonna make money in your business. You'll look really good. You'll have a bestselling book on Amazon. You're not gonna make money in your coaching business. And so it's just important to know that, so for me, I had to allow myself to cry. I had to allow myself to feel really bad for a large part of the day today, especially after we caught the issue, right? Like after we caught the issue I'm troubleshooting, I'm problem solving, caught the issue. I was like, oh my gosh. Is this really happening? And I just allowed myself to not feel great. I, I spent some time journaling. I wrote about it. I talked to God about it, right? But if I didn't do that, what would've happened is I would've now hear me out. I would have moved on. I would've moved on, meaning I would've just said, you know what? It is what it is. There's always future launches. This is what a lot of us do. Like we, we think that we're being we're rising above the situation. We're actually just avoiding our feelings, right? So I would've just moved on. I would've just said, you know what? Forget it. I'm done. Like it is what it is. And I didn't do that. I allowed myself to feel, I allowed myself to feel the feelings. And then I was able to evaluate like neutrally, I always talk about being like a neutral consultant in your business. I was able to neutrally evaluate what was going on objectively. And that's really how I saw a lot of the issues that were having. And then I was able to make a plan to go forward, right? And I was able to get coached by my coach because Lord knows I. I be wanting to shut down. I have, I keep a coach because I wouldn't have a business without one. So I got coached and then I made a plan to move forward and so on. The other side of every single failure really is an opportunity for learning, but like your brain doesn't want that. Like your brain wants you to either avoid. Anything that can potentially lead to failure or your brain wants you to only do the things like you're working and you're working really hard, but you're working really hard on the things that are not actually contributing to the growth of your bottom line, to the growth of your business, to signing actual clients. And the real story in all of this was as I was feeling bad, as I was feeling overwhelmed, as I was spinning out, as I was just like failing and feeling all the emotions. Somebody on my email list. Was wading through my email. Now, remember what I said. I said my links were wrong on multiple emails, not all of them, but on multiple emails. My links were not working properly and they were just going to nowhere, and somehow, some way, somebody clicked back enough through a prior email where the link was working, found the link, booked a call, joined the program. On a day when it was available to me to completely shut down and I just wanna offer that would not, I would not have even signed her if I didn't feel those feelings.'cause I would've been feeling so bad and so overwhelmed and so resistant that I would've buried my head in the sand. And when I got on a call with her, I wouldn't have been able to connect with her. I wouldn't have been able to really show up and serve. Her. So it's literally because I felt the feelings, I was able to move forward, right? And I have other clients reaching out to me. In fact, the person who pointed out the error was a potential client. She's Hey, I'm trying to get on your calendar and it's not working. And I'm like, oh my gosh, right? But all of that, remember last week I talked about failing your way to creating demand, like the more you actually show up and serve. Serve from your heart with love, like the more you actually serve your people, the more you actually are willing to put yourself out there in service to your people. Is the more money you will make, the more. Impact you will have. And so that's what this is about. And yes. It gets hard sometimes. That's why it's important to do it in a community. I sat on my coaching call today. And I raised my hand and my coach, she had not called on me, but you know what? She called on someone else and that person had the exact issue. I had the exact same issue. In fact, I was able to lower my hand and I typed in the chat, I said, I'm good. That's the importance of community, right? Like when you're doing it in community with a coach who. Gets you, who understands you, who has, who is going where you want to be? Then you won't get stuck in the spiral of, feeling bad, and then you shut down your business and then you restart your business. Then you shut your business down again, and that's not what we want. That's not what we want. And so I just wanna offer to you, I just wanna offer that there is a different way that there is a different. Way, like you can make money, you can show up and serve and it doesn't have to look perfect. It doesn't have to be perfect. It won't be perfect, but that's okay because you can be creating demand, generating interest getting eyeballs on your stuff from people who are interested, having people reach out to you like. All of that gets to happen as you are creating demand, right? And you're making money as you're failing, as opposed to, just to back up a little bit, it's just the concept of active versus passive failure. If you are doing the aesthetically pleasing stuff for the gram, you're still failing, but you're in passive failure. If your business is only in your head and you're attending masterclasses, but not actually putting offers into the world, you're still failing. It's just passive failure, and so the feeling that you're avoiding, you already feel it like you are already there. You're already feeling it. What I wanna offer to you is a way to have that feeling, but also be making progress. Also be creating the results that you want to create in your life and in your business. It's the difference between active is passive failure. Passive failure sometimes as doctors looks really pretty. It's the beautiful website. It's the branded photo shoot. It's the aesthetically pleasing Instagram feed. It's the Amazon bestselling book. It's the posts that you do on Canva. It's like all of those things. It's still failure, but it's just passive failure that like makes us feel good and I just wanna offer, you can choose a different path, right? Where you're actually serving and actually helping your people, but like actively failing, but also actively achieving the success that you wanna achieve in your life and in your business. That's what's available. Team. That's what I wanna offer to you inside of IPMD. So I wanna give you guys an update because of my failure, you benefit. Okay? So what does that mean? That means that number one, we are extending the deadline for you guys to enroll to receive the bonus. I'm adding an additional bonus, so let me tell you about it. So the dates of the enrollment, we were closing tomorrow at 1159. We are now closing on Monday. That's a week from today, March 31st at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. That is when we will be closing. Okay? So when you book your call, as long as you have the call booked, by that time even the if, even if the call is like next week, later in the week. That's okay. You just need your call to be booked. By that time when you join us. Inside of IPMD, there are now two bonuses. Like I said, my error gets to be your benefit. I. So number one, we are still gonna have the demand activation intensive. That is our group intensive. That includes not just IPMD, but also my DCS and half MO Mastermind clients. They're invited as well. I will be doing a one day virtual live intensive with you, talking you through the process and coaching you through the process of actively. Remember, we wanna be active, actively creating demand. In your coaching business, it is going to be fire. Not only are we doing the actual. Intensive, but we are also gonna be doing a fireside chat. So let me explain. I've done this before with my DCS clients. I'm opening it to all of my clients. It is going to be a one hour session. We give you food as well, and we're doing a fireside chat where it's not recorded. So if you're there. If you're not, you missed it, but you get to ask me. Anything. Okay. And it has been very interesting questions in the past. So that's a part of the demand activation intensive is this fireside chat with all of my clients, all women doctors, women, doctors of color coming together to learn and to grow and to get coached together. And you get to ask me all of your questions. So that's bonus number one. Bonus number two is a one-on-one demand activation call with me. So what do I mean by that? As you are walking through the process of going through the program, as you are learning how to create demand in your business, right? Like you're putting yourself out there, you're sharing your stoney, you're being vulnerable. There's gonna be failure, there's gonna be, some times that you just wanna give up. I am offering a one-on-one call with me for those times. You can book it at any time during the six months. Did I mention IPMD at six months? Now? It's no longer three months, six month program, so you can book it at any time during the six months with me. Okay, and I will walk you through. Now I don't do one-on-one anymore, but I'm doing it for just for this cohort. Okay. And we only actually have 10 one-on-one slots available. Actually, it's only nine now because somebody snagged one of'em. Okay. So nine left nine. One-on-one slots left with me. You get, like I said, a one-on-one call with me to use at any point during the program, if you're feeling overwhelmed or you're just feeling oh my gosh, I don't really know what to do, you can book that call with me and I got you. I will walk you through it. Like I'll hold space for you. I will. I got you. I got you. After helping women doctors create hundreds of thousands of dollars, I actually need to tally it up.'cause I think we might be close to a million dollars of revenue generated for all of my clients. Not my revenue, just my clients. Just my clients. The revenue that they're generating, that they've generated. I think we might be close to that. We gotta redo the numbers and everything. But as someone who has been able to help, so many women, doctors go from zero to making their first 5K, 10 K, 15 k all the way up to multiple six figures. I. I got you. I'm gonna support you throughout every single step of this journey. So there's so many incredible things happening inside of IPMD. I didn't want my technical glitches to make you miss it. And I also just wanna illustrate to you that these things happen, like failure happens, but you can like failure. Active failure is the prerequisite to winning. Active failure is the prerequisite to immense success. Really all the success that you wanna have in your business is on the other side of your willingness to fail. Actively evaluate the failure, pick yourself up and keep going with the help of a coach in a community. Like you're not just doing it by yourself, but everything that you want to create is on the other side of failure, like active failure, not like the passive, cute failure that we all like to do. So the doors of IPMD are open. If you're listening to this on the podcast, definitely. Go to the show notes or go to the doctor coach school.com/ip-or IP dash md book your call with me. It is a decision call on the call. I will let you know if I think I can help you. If I don't think I can help you, then I will let you know as well, right? So if I think I can help you, I will make an offer. If I don't think I can help you, I will let you know. But. You're gonna get on the call to make a decision to join us inside of IPMD. I am so excited for every single one of my clients who's inside for my new ladies who are just joined like over the moon, to help you create your first high ticket client to create demand, to create your in demand offer, and to become an in demand coach. If you're watching on Instagram, all you gotta do is go to Lincoln Bio. At any point, click the link. Book a call if it, and listen, if you're listening on the podcast or you're on Instagram, if you don't see call slots available. Don't let that mean that you can't make your, create your first client, right? Like we will work it out. Send me a dm, send me an email, send me a, a. Bat signal. Send me an SOS send something, okay? I don't want that to be the reason you don't create demand in your business because my calendar doesn't fit with yours. We will work it out, okay? Whatever I gotta do, we will find a time that works for you. Don't let that be the thing that stops you from moving forward. Okay? I'm excited to see you guys on the calls and also on IPMD inside the community. If you have any questions, if you have any questions, definitely reach out to me. Like I said, my dms are open. Shoot me a dm. I got you. I'll respond, or you can reply to any email if you happen to be on my email. Account. Okay y'all, I will see you next time. I'm gonna make sure we get the word out that we are shifting things and that everything is brand new and I'll do stories and all the things. So I will see y'all a little bit later. Peace and love. I.
